Folks in Scranton will have the opportunity to meet their friends and share in the holiday spirit next week. Final details will be published in the Nov. 30 edition of The Scranton Journal.
Details are being finalized by the Scranton Betterment Committee for the annual Christmas in Scranton celebration on Thursday, Dec. 1.
The parks and rec committee of the city of Scranton is planning “Cocoa with the Clauses” on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Gazebo park on Main Street. The fun will begin at 6 pm with cheers and the lighting of the Christmas tree. Santa and Mrs Claus are expected to visit. There will be music, refreshments and gifts for the children.
At 5:30 p.m. youngsters are invited to the Marchant Library for holiday crafts.
Scranton businesses, church seeking food donations: The Scranton office of Peoples Trust & Savings Bank is teaming with Scranton New Way Manufacturing and the Scranton United Methodist Church to collect donations of non-perishable food items to be distributed to families in need in the Scranton community.
Donations can be left at the bank or front office of New Way Manufacturing. The donations must be new and cannot be expired. The food drive will end on Monday, Dec. 19, so that distributions can be made prior to Christmas.
